Mine Action Training

Pax Mondial offers Mine Action training through our wholly-owned subsidiary MAT Mondial. Courses are taught at MAT Mondial’s training center in Peja, western Kosovo, a fully equipped facility that also provides exposure to ongoing Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Mine Action work in Kosovo.

The MAT Mondial training team consists of former UK Military Instructors from the Defence EOD School. All instructors are Level 4 Advanced EOD Operators and have experience in military EOD operations in countries such as Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Falkland Islands, Mozambique and Sierra Leone. Additionally, the instructors have experience within Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) projects in countries such as Angola, Iraq, Kosovo, Lao PDR, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, and Sudan.

Our Mine Action courses include:

Field Technical Advisors (FTA)/IMAS Level 2 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)

This course instructs students in the required knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to perform the duties and tasks of a field technical advisor, so that they can plan and manage HMA field operations in accordance with International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) and the National Mine Authority (NMA). Level of competency training meets IMAS Level 2 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) criteria. Topics covered include history of landmines and mine warfare, manual demining, technical survey, clearance, and minefield management, among many others.

IMAS Level 3 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)

The training goal of this course is to instruct students to the required knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to perform the duties and tasks during EOD Operations of a qualified IMAS Level 3 EOD Operator, in accordance with IMAS. Level of competency training meets IMAS 09.30, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Level 3 criteria.

Students will have the opportunity to gain an IMAS level 3 EOD qualification, depending on the level of competency displayed during assessments and testing. They will receive professional EOD and Mine Action reference materials, complemented by a large selection of UXO training aids to help facilitate the learning process. Topics covered include explosive theory, guided weapons, management of demolition sites, battle area clearance, and threat assessment and planning, among many others.

IMAS Level 4 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)

The training goal of the course is to instruct students who are already Level 3 (IMAS) to the required knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to perform the duties and tasks during EOD Operations) of a qualified IMAS Level 4 EOD Operator. This is in accordance with IMAS. The levels of competency training will meet IMAS 09.30; Explosive Ordnance Disposal Level 4 Criteria.

Students will have the opportunity to gain an IMAS level 4 EOD qualification, depending on the level of competency displayed during assessments and testing. They will receive professional EOD and Mine Action reference materials, complemented by a large selection of UXO training aids to help facilitate the learning process. Topics covered include land service ammunition, landmines & booby traps, air-dropped weapons, movement of explosive ordnance, intro to underwater UXO, and EOD search operations, among many others.
